North Town Primary School, situated near the centre of Taunton, was built in 1907. Its age and situation makes it a very attractive building and our visitors regularly comment on the spacious light, airy feel.
The school has fourteen classrooms which include practical areas and recently refurbished Early Years and Key Stage 2 areas. Every class has an interactive whiteboard and banks of iPads, wireless laptops and PCs. Further accommodation includes a well-resourced Special Needs Department, Sensory Room and a large hall.
The school has recently refurbished its library which included every child in the school selecting their own book from Waterstones which has been personalised to indicate who choose the book.
The school has also recently converted its kitchen to a full catering kitchen to improve both the variety and quality of food served. The new kitchen will allow the School, through our catering partner, to employ a Chef on site who will oversee a new more varied menu and the preparation of fresh food onsite. The children also have cookery lessons, see the Twitter Feeds Page for more information about these lessons.
There are large, well equipped playground areas and an Environmental Garden in which children grow their own vegetables and flowers.
The school is fortunate to be able to make full use of a nearby recreation ground for general games lessons, sports clubs, inter-school matches and sports days.
