6th October 2023

Dear parents/carers,

Thank you to the many parents for your comments about Class Dojo! The children seem to be really enjoying this new initiative and I am delighted that over 300 families are now connected to it.It was wonderful to hear such lovely feedback about the Year Two sports morning at Castle School. Mrs Purchase and Miss Blake said that they received many comments about the behaviour of our children.

Charter House Residential

A huge thank you to that staff who kindly accompanied the Year Six children on their three day residential to Charter House this week. The children were an absolute joy and came home with so many memorable experiences. Thank you to the many parents and carers for your kind comments and support.

Mufti day

A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for your kind donations for St Margaret’s Hospice care charity and PROMISEworks. We know that these donations will make a difference and your kindness is very much appreciated!

Parent’s Evenings

Our Autumn Term Parent’s Evenings are only a few weeks away. The first evening will be on Tuesday

17th October and the second evening on Wednesday 1st November. Both evenings will be from 3:306:15pm. The format will be the same as last year. The meetings with teachers will be in the school. Parents and carers will be able to enjoy looking at books in the library.

Members of the senior leadership team will take parents and carers over to the hall for the allotted meeting me.

Readathon

After half term, North Town is going to be taking part in a ‘Readathon’. This is to help us to continue to build up our library with the newest, most exciting books to provide the children with the best reading opportunities possible! All children in North Town will be reading as much as they can, in and out of school, for the week beginning 6th November 2023. Children will be sent home with sponsorship forms before half term. You are able to pay both in cash and online through the QR code found on the form, but please ensure all details are logged. Aer half term, children will receive tracker forms, where they can track their reading/ listening minutes and on 13th November, both forms will need to be handed in ready to be added up for a whole school overall total. Our North Town target is to be reading for 1,500 hours! All money raised will be put towards boosting the number of books in our school library and ensuring it is an enjoyable, comfortable space for the children to read. Please support the children in their reading challenge by encouraging their reading at home and sponsoring our Readathon!

Sibling photos

Tempest photography will be in school on Thursday 12th October to take sibling photos.  They will only be taking sibling groups of children who attend North Town Primary School.  If your child missed the last photo day, there will also be opportunity for them to have their photo taken on this day.

Christmas Dinner Day

We can now confirm that the school Christmas Dinner Day will be on Wednesday 13th December. It’s certainly a dinner not to be missed!

North Town Christmas Fayre

The school Christmas Fayre on Friday 1st December will run from 3:30pm until 5:15pm.

Blankets for Wraparound

Wraparound are wanting some blankets for the children to use when watching movies.  If you have any spare at home that you no longer want, any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Parent information box

In the box this week is some information and advice for parents of children aged 4-8 years around positive behaviour management. Please take one. The box is situated on the wall outside the main school Office.

Christmas Sparkle

Once again, North Town School is supporting the Christmas Sparkle Charity by collecting donations of new gifts. If you are able, please help by purchasing and donating a gift suitable for a child/young person aged 0-18yrs. We have supported this Charity for several years now, and they are always amazed by the generosity shown by parents at our school. There will be a box for donations in Reception from Monday 30th October (after Half Term holiday). Thank you for your support.

Moonraker

Sarah Cliffe is taking part in the Taunton Vale Rotary Club’s 2023 Moonraker Challenge on the 14th October.  This is a 16 mile nighttime orienteering route with some questions/clues thrown in for good measure.

Money raised is distributed by the Rotary Club of Taunton Vale Trust Fund to local causes. This year the majority of funds will be going to the Somerset Counselling Centre (www.scctaunton.org.uk). This is an amazing non-profit organisation which provides counselling and therapy services, including discounted rates to accommodate more people.

If you wish to sponsor Sarah please follow the link to her teams just giving page.
