Chair of Governors
I have been a governor at North Town since early 2017 and have a focus on SEND.
For the last 16 years I have worked with children and young people who have additional needs or a disability in both the education and care sectors. Working currently within educational inclusion for the local authority.
I have one daughter who has been all through North Town and is now at secondary school and another one going currently at the school. North Town is a great school and I feel honoured to be a part of it.

Matt Nolan is an experienced manager across education and has previously been a Chair of Governors at a Primary School in Taunton.
Matt works across student services and is has a specialism in Safeguarding within Education. Outside of work he has a keen interest in sport and enjoys coaching at the Taunton Tigers Basketball Club.
Philip Jones

Phil is a Chiropractor, local business owner and father with a desire to help the school maintain and improve on its already high standards. Phil has worked in both the NHS and private healthcare sectors which has provided him with a thorough understanding of safeguarding and quality improvement. He has previously held a governor position at a University based on the south coast and is currently an active trustee and council member for a UK charity organisation.
In work, Phil and his wife employes a small team of 23 individuals across 3 private healthcare clinics in Somerset. He has a sound business and financial knowledge allowing him to understand the inner working of organisations and the effects this has on its people.
Outside of work, Phil volunteers his time to the Royal College of Chiropractors where he leads the production and development of UK Chiropractic Practice Standards used by the health regulator – the General Chiropractic Council. Further, he acts as a mentor to other UK based chiropractors who may require additional support.
Phil enjoys nothing more than spending quality time with his family and swimming whenever time allows. He is always happy to talk and keen to work with parents, the school and other governors to ensure North Town Primary School maintains its position as a great educational facility for our children.

I am proud to have been given the opportunity to become a Governor at North Town School and to be part of a team who work alongside the senior leaders to drive the strategic development of the school to support the children, parents and staff gain a positive, inclusive and supportive experience. I am passionate about children having an excellent opportunity to grow and develop an appetite to learn, and want children at North Town school to develop their learning skills in a safe and positive environment.
I am currently a Human Resources Business Partner at the Meteorological Office with over twenty years of experience in human resources covering such diverse areas such as retail, not for profit organisations and now the public sector. On a personal front, I enjoy walking, cycling, and having little adventures with my children.

I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to be part of the governing board at North Town. As a primary school teacher, I am passionate about teaching and learning, and believe in guiding and supporting children to develop a love of learning and an internal drive to be the best they can be in a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment. Having had a daughter attend North Town, I know that the children receive an exceptional level of education – I hope to support the school in continuing to provide an outstanding experience for the children and wider community.

I have been a parent governor for North Town school since May 2020, and have two daughters at the school.
I have been a paramedic for 11 years and work at Taunton ambulance station as a lead paramedic. In my spare time I love mountain biking and getting outside.
