Dear Parents and Carers,

Half-term is almost upon us after a busy and enjoyable first half term! Every day is different in a school and it is a joy to see the children being provided with a feast of opportunities. Thank you to the many parents who were able to attend our first KS2 celebration assembly of the year, it was wonderful to have a packed school hall.

Just a reminder that North Town School and Nursery will be closed on Friday 21st October for an INSET day and the school will be closed the following week for half-term.

Amazing Work

I absolutely love to see children visit my office to show off their amazing work! This week, I had some Year Six children showing me their writing, some Year Five children showing me their handwriting and receiving pens and Mahanth from Year One showing me his maths homework on sharing – It was absolutely brilliant and beautifully presented. Keep up the super work everyone!

North Town Nursery

Jo Pear will sadly be leaving our Nursery at Christmas to take on the management of a nursery in Bridgwater. Shelby Norman will also be leaving at October half-term for an exciting new challenge. We are extremely grateful to them both for everything they have given to the school and nursery these past years. We have a wonderful school and nursery and they have certainly made a huge impact! We are truly saddened to be losing them both and wish them every success for the future.

Harvest

Just a reminder that we have our KS2 Harvest Assembly on Tuesday at 2pm. We dearly would to invite as many parents as possible but are restricted by the size of our hall. One parent/carer of each year 6 child are invited to join us. Please can we have donations of items brought into to the school on Monday and Tuesday. Please see the list at the end of this Newsletter for suggested items.

PE Uniform/School Uniform

Please can I ask that all parents and check your child’s PE bag every weekend as there are times that other children’s tops or shorts end up in other bags.  If you find something in your child’s bag which does not belong to them, please return it via the school office who will gladly find the owner.

Parents’ Evenings

Just a reminder that we have our first parents’ evening of the year on Wednesday 19th October. Parents will go to the school library to look at their child’s class books before going over to the hall to meet the class teacher.

Polling Station

An update following our recent request to stop using the school as a Polling Station, it seems as though new ward boundaries will be decided upon soon and with this there is a drive to move away from using schools as Polling Stations. This is not guaranteed however but we will continue to push for North Town to no longer be a Polling Station.

Poetry Event at Richard Huish College

A huge thank you to Mr Kerton for organising the poetry event that our KS2 children took part in on Tuesday. It was a huge success and the children certainly enjoyed it. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped walk the children to the college and to Richard Huish for hosting.

Open Mornings

We had our first open morning for prospective parents this week and it was an absolute pleasure to join our house captains in giving our visitors a tour of the school. A huge well done to all the children and staff. We have another open morning on Wednesday 9th November at 9:30am.

Coffee Mornings

I am absolutely delighted with our Wednesday coffee mornings for parents and carers. Please do know that you are welcome to attend if you are ever free on a Wednesday from 8:45am. Thank you Mrs Screech for the idea and for making it happen.

Pippins Library Visit

It was wonderful to witness the excitement of our Pippins children walking off to Taunton library this week. Thank you to the many parents that helped with the visit. We are lucky to have such a brilliant library in Taunton and would encourage all families to visit.
