What a really enjoyable start to the school year! This week we welcomed our new Pippins children and they have been very happy, excited and settled. We hope our new additions enjoy every minute of the North Town journey!
Please do continue to read through our weekly newsletter as we like to update and communicate as much information with the school community.
As I reported in the newsletter in July, sadly we lose Sarah Leyman as a member of the North Town team today. I have absolutely loved working with Sarah and appreciate her support, hard work, professionalism, and kindness. We all wish her every success in her new role at South West Councils and hope she stays in touch with all at North Town.
Sarah Cliffe will be taking over from Sarah. Sarah has been at North Town in the office for many years and we are delighted that she will be stepping into this role.
Thank you for support and co-operation with drop offs in the mornings. The SLT love being outside seeing you all in the mornings and we have been pleased how things have become smoother since our ParentMail on Tuesday. Do remember to keep using the whole of the space on the pathway between the front gate and the gate where SLT stand. Also remember that it tends to be a lot quieter for those dropping off at 8:45am. A member of the public stopped me this morning to pass on her thanks to the whole school community for being so considerate to others when dropping off and collecting. Thank you!
Please can I remind you to not let your children use the play equipment in the playground at drop off and collection time. Unfortunately, in the past we have had children become injured whilst using the pirate ship and trim trail at these times and we want to protect everyone from this happening again.
Open Mornings for new parents
We have open mornings arranged for any children to start school in September 2024. The dates of these are:
Thursday 19th October 2023 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Thursday 9th November 2023 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am
If you have a child due to start school next year and you would like to book to come and see what we offer, please contact the school office on 01823 284676 or by email email@example.com to book your place.
Coffee mornings will restart on Wednesday 20th September 2023 at 8:45am, and these will continue to take place every other Wednesday going forward.
Next Friday, 22nd September we have Tempest photographers in to take the children’s photos. Please ensure that your child comes to school on that day looking clean, smart and in full North Town uniform.
Parenting information box
In the box this week will be advice and ideas for play activities for children aged 5-8 yrs. Please help yourself. The box is situated on the wall outside the front Office.
Our Nursery offers quality childcare for children aged between two and four from 8:00- 18:00 all year round! We offer a large engaging outdoor space with a mud kitchen, sand pit, construction area and a bike area! Our indoor environment is calming and offers a range of adult and child led learning, a sensory space, home corner, cosy book corner and more! We promote emotional literacy and development by encouraging the children to take part in ‘mindfulness’ each day and have a qualified Thrive practitioner. We have two qualified SENCO’s, an ENCO, and we also have ‘communication friendly setting status.’ We have limited spaces available so feel free to book in a show around with your little ones to join in all the fun! Email : firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and enquiries!
Friday 6th October will be the first school Mufti of the year and the money we raise will be split between two charities. St Margrets’s Hospice care charity and PROMISEworks.
St Margret’s hospice care charity makes a difference for patients and their families facing life-limiting illness in our community.
PROMISEworks is a local charity making a big difference in Somerset by offering mentoring services to disadvantaged children across the county.
We are asking if the children can wear something yellow to support the charities and make a £1 donation on the day which will be collected by a member of SLT on the school gate.
School uniform donations
Thank you for all of the school uniform donations. We now have a good supply and are not taking any more donations at this time.
Somerset Cricket Foundation deliver weekly street cricket sessions at local hubs in Yeovil, Bridgwater, Weston-super-Mare and Taunton. These sessions are free for young people in school years 4 – 7 who traditionally face barriers to getting active and uses cricket as a tool to increase aspirations, mutual respect and enhance relationships with others.
The sessions, which are inclusive to people of all backgrounds and abilities, are created so that all equipment is provided and can be played easily to include everyone. The game is a fast-paced version of tape-ball cricket, which uses a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape instead of a cricket ball. The programme aims to give a new fast, fun feel to cricket that can be played in any contained space indoors or outdoors.
To book a place, please complete this enquiry form: https://somersetcricketfoundation.org/community-programmes/street-cricket/#takepart or email: Steve.email@example.com
