Dear parents/carers

I would like to start my newsletter by thanking our wonderful North Town team, Community and Children for the support over this last term.

We have had a magical few weeks with some lovely Christmas events and the effort that goes on behind the scenes to make these things happen is simply amazing.

Today we say goodbye and thank you to Matt Kerton, one of our Deputy Heads as he embarks on the new challenge of becoming the head Teacher at Nerrols School. I would like to thank him for the wonderful support he has given North Town during the 8.5 years he has been here.

Over the next few days, we will be saying goodbye and good luck to our current Nursery Manager Jo Pear, our acting Deputy Nursery Manager Hayley Giles and Nursery apprentice Lily Durham. We wish them all every success for their futures and for all they have done for North Town Nursery.

We will be welcoming Patricia Smith as our new Nursery Manager and wish her every success for her time with us.

Clothing

Please could we remind you to send your child/children in with weather appropriate clothing, it is now the coldest time of the year and we still have children arriving to school without a coat!

Christmas Dinner

Congratulations to our amazing catering team who did the school proud and provided a wonderful Christmas Dinner yesterday. Children and staff enjoyed this very much. Thank you to them all.

Christmas Break

Today is the last day of this term with the children returning to school on Wednesday 4th January 2023.

Vision Screening – Pippins – Friday 6th January 2023

The vision screening team will be coming to North Town on Friday 6th January 2023 to test the reception children. You do not need to do anything for this to take place but should you wish to opt out and your child not be tested, you will need to complete the opt out form sent previously by Parentmail and return to the school office.

Vocabulary Day

On Thursday 12th January, we will be taking part in Vocabulary Day. This will be a day to immerse children in the wonderful world of words! Alongside the other Richard Huish Primary Schools, we will be inviting the children and staff to dress up as a word (a verb or adjective in particular) such as spotty, starry, mischievous, sprint, illuminate, festive or even ridiculous!
