Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to start my newsletter by congratulating Matt Kerton on the news that he is to become the head teacher of Nerrols Primary School from January as a locum head for the next eighteen months. Matt deserves this opportunity and Nerrols are very lucky to be having him lead the school. I have been lucky to know Matt for many years, ever since he joined my class as a trainee teacher. I knew within minutes that he was going to go on and achieve great things and he has! Selfishly, I am upset to be losing Matt but I know that this is a great opportunity for him and I am delighted that Richard Huish Trust has recognised his hard work and dedication. We plan to work closely with Matt and his team at Nerrols as they are in the same trust as us. Congratulations Matt – I am delighted for you and proud of you.
Flu Immunisation
Just a reminder that the Flu Immunisation Team will be visiting North Town on Wednesday 30th November to administer the Flu vaccines to all year groups. Please remember to complete the consent via the information provided through Parentmail, even if you do not consent for your child.
If you have already done this – thank-you!
World Cup Game
As you are aware, the children will have the chance to watch the first England World Cup game on Monday 21st November. If the children would like to bring in a football shirt in their school bag and wear it for the afternoon, they will be very welcome.
North Town School Wraparound Care
As you may be aware, we are looking at plans to adapt and expand the provision we are able to offer our families before and after school. To help us understand how best to plan for this, we are asking one parent/carer to complete a short survey by clicking on this link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=x7KbLdiLp06II9H7gVWkx9YcRRGGUCNCvaBrxL9y4PJUQk01NVI1RTFWTUlEQVg0NE5JNUtHOURZQi4u
We appreciate your support with this matter and kindly ask it is completed even if parents/carers have no intention of using the provision. It should take less than 5 minutes. The survey closes at 9:00am on Monday 21st November 2022.
Children In Need
Thank you for your amazing support for Children in Need today. It has been wonderful seeing all of the different costumes, we even had our very own Eeyore in the shape of Mr. Reading, did you spot him? We will let you know the total raised in next weeks Newsletter.
MUFTI DAY – Friday 25th November 2022
A reminder that next Friday is also a mufti day and we would like donations of chocolate if possible for the chocolate tombola at the Christmas Fayre.
POLLING STATION UPDATE
Mr. Braund has received a response from Councillor Ellis regarding the use of our school as a Polling Station. The council are seriously looking at alternatives but have not ruled out having to use the school. A small step forward!
PE UPDATE FROM MR GRAVE
On Monday, 36 of our KS2 children took part in a Cross Country event at Kings College. Lots went to try and beat their time from the same event in September, and many did end up with a new personal best! What was most pleasing to see was the togetherness and encouragement of our children, who made sure they cheered on any runners crossing the finish line after their run.
CHRISTMAS REMINDERS
Christmas Sparkle
At North Town we try to support local Charities. One of these is Christmas Sparkle, which donates Christmas presents to children aged 0-18yrs who might otherwise not get very much. If you are able to purchase a small gift alongside your usual shopping, there is a box in Reception in which it can be placed. We understand that times are hard at the moment, but we very much hope that you will be able to support us with this. Thank you.
