Dear Parents and Carers,

This week I have been visited by a child in the nursery showing me her amazing writing and super phonics. I also was lucky enough to see some superb independent writing in Pippins. The excitement and pride of the children showing me their work is wonderful to see.

Have a lovely weekend

E Safety and use of phones and other devices

It has come to our attention this week that some children in upper Key Stage Two have been accessing inappropriate content on social media platforms on their own devices out of school. I am sure you appreciate this is an issue and challenge across the country and we have attached some useful guides on ensuring parental controls are on mobile devices which hopefully you will find useful. Staff have supported with this by speaking to the children and lessons have been put in place in addition to the ones that we already cover.

The Back Gate

We have taken the decision to only allow access to the school before 8:40am and after 3:25pm via the front entrance of the school. This is purely down to safeguarding to ensure that we can effectively monitor visitors coming on to the premises and leaving the premises. This should only impact families that use our nursery and also our wraparound and we hope you understand the necessity to do this.

SATS

Just a reminder to all our parents of children in year six that SATs week will be starting on Monday 13th May. I know that Miss Newstead and Miss Fairfax will be communicating more information in the build up but I just wanted to emphasise the importance that all children are in attendance and on time throughout the week. We cannot ask anymore of the children. They are having a super final year at North Town and all we ask is that they do their very best and believe in themselves.

Year One Phonics

Just a reminder that the Year One Phonics Screening Assessments will be starting on WC Monday 10th June. All children in Year One will be required to complete the screening assessment throughout this week. Mrs Richards will be available on the 8th May during Coffee Morning to answer any questions in regards to phonics or the phonics check.

Attendance

We continue to monitor the attendance at North Town and we are pleased with our data. I am sure you appreciate we are always looking to strive for the best attendance possible. This includes arriving at school for the start of the school day between 8:40am and 8:50am. There will be times that a child maybe late for school. If ever this is the case, parents and carers must bring their child to the office via the front gate.

Sports Day

We are making plans for Sports Day for after half term and will communicate dates as soon as possible.

Bank Holiday

Just a reminder that North Town will be closed on Monday 6th May as it is a Bank Holiday
