Friday 11TH  July

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a week of hot weather and sports at North Town this week. Thank you to the many parents and carers who kindly feedback on all our sporting events throughout the week. I was really delighted to receive feedback on how supportive our Year Five and Year Six children were with the KS1 Sports Events. We are grateful to Taunton School for allowing us to use their premises for our KS2 Sports Day. Thank you to Liam Screech and his team of grounds staff who kindly prepared the tracks for us. None of this week would have been possible without the hard work, dedication and organisation of Mr Grave. He has spent weeks preparing the children for the events and it clearly paid off by seeing how much they enjoyed it.

Wishing you all a smashing weekend.

Best wishes,

Mark Braund

2025/26 Academic Year

Just a reminder that the children will start back at North Town on Wednesday 3rd September. The academic year calendar is on the home page of our website.

Start to the School Day

From September Senior Leaders will continue to open the gates at 8:40am but we would like all children into class by 8:45am so that they are registered in readiness for their first lesson to start at 8:50am. SLT will continue to be on the gate until 8:50pm as we recognise that we need to be there to see parents and carers off the premises. Please note that children will be marked as late after 8:45am.

Mobile Phones

From September North Town Primary School will no longer allow use of mobile phones when parents are dropping off or picking up. Please can all parents and carers ensure that phones are in bags or pockets as soon as you come onto the premises.

Hot Weather

Thank you to you all for your response to the hot weather. With the forecast continuing to be hot next week, we have made the decision to allow the children to continue to wear PE kits. Please ensure that children continue to come in with sun hats and sun lotion applied. We do not allow children to wear sunglasses or bring in their own fans for safety reasons and incidents that have happened in the past.

Sports Events

On Wednesday, eight girls from school competed in the County Finals for cricket. We played 3 games before lunch, winning all three. We had to try and score as many runs as possible in the games to get the highest average score. After lunch we played the final two, losing to St Stephens from Bath and we won against Uphill. We won 4 out of 5 games and our average runs were 92.5, meaning we finished 4th out of 11 schools taking part. I really enjoyed the batting the most!
