Dear parent/carer
What a week it has been enjoying the magic of Christmas in a primary school. We started this with the Christmas Fayre last Friday. I cannot thank you enough for braving the weather and joining us at the school. I am really grateful to Caroline Tidmarsh and Bex Howell and their team of volunteers and the school staff for making the event the success that it was!
We then went straight into the Christmas Sing Along events this week. It has been truly wonderful to see the children enjoying performing on the stage with so much confidence and enthusiasm. A huge well done to them and the staff for making such opportunities possible. It was really super to see so many parents and carers at every show and your kind feedback was really appreciated.
Thank you to all the parents and carers for your kind comments and understanding regarding the decision to cancel the KS2 Christmas Service. The children who had been selected for the short performance during the service will be filmed on Thursday morning. The school choir will also be filmed. We will aim for the video to be sent out to parents as soon as possible.
Next week we have our Christmas Dinner Day and our Christmas parties on Thursday afternoon.
Our last day of term is Thursday 18th December as we have an INSET training day on the Friday. Our first day back in January is on Monday 5th January.
Best Wishes
Mr Braund
The School House
The School House is now complete, and the aim is for the office team to move in on Friday 19th December in readiness for the first day back in the New Year on Monday 5th January. As with all changes, there will undoubtedly be a few issues, but we aim to keep these to a minimum. I have created a guide to how the office will work and have attached it to this newsletter. The most important thing to remember is that when we open the gates in the morning at 8:40am and in the afternoon at 3:15pm that all parents and carers will continue to use the same gates that we always use. For wraparound, parents and carers will continue to use our existing system as well. The changes for nursery have already been implemented and are working well. Please see the attached document that explains the new system and has pictures to add clarity.
Sports at North Town
We’ve had another busy week of sports. A group of cricketers took part in a cricket event at Taunton School last Friday that Theo has written a report on, and Alfie has done the same for yesterday’s hockey. On Monday, Indigo, Mia K, Tasfi from Y4 and Millie P, Poppy and Darcie from Y3 took part in a swimming event, where they had lots of different activities to complete in their teams, having to use lots of different skills and techniques. Well done to all that took part!
Last Friday, we took part in a cricket event at Taunton School, and it was a very competitive event against other schools. We all played very well and it paid off because we won all our games. Against Parkfield, we had our closest result with us only winning by 1 run. Well done everyone!

Yesterday, we were playing hockey at Taunton Vale against many schools. We started playing rollerball and then moved on to Hockey, everyone did amazing and the matches were all very close. Well done to the whole team.
Alfie D, 6JF

A huge congratulations to Olivia in Year 5 whose art work has made it on to the Richard Huish Trust electronic Christmas card for 2025. The standard of entries was exceptional and well done to every child who completed a design. Please see Olivia’s design below:

Ellie Daymond
I am absolutely delighted to announce that Mrs Daymond is expecting her first baby in the summer and will be going on maternity leave at the end of the spring term. We are all absolutely thrilled for Ellie and her husband and look forward to hearing the news of the safe arrival of Baby Daymond. Plans are already in place for a teacher to cover the current year five class for the rest of the summer term.
