20th June 2025

Friday 20th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

The term is flying and we still have so much to look forward to. Please read carefully the information Mr Grave has included below on our Sports Day plans. We were absolutely delighted with how all our events ran last year and were appreciative of the feedback from parents and carers. The plans are the same this year, with our KS2 Sports morning at Taunton School and our KS1 year groups having an afternoon each on our school playground. We look forward to seeing as many parents and carers at these events as possible.

Have a smashing weekend everyone.

Mr Braund

Sports Day’s

The week of 7th July will be our various sports events that parents can attend. We are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather. Unfortunately, there are times that schools have to take the decision to postpone such events due to the weather and the conditions being too wet and slippery for the children to take part, or too hot. We will endeavour to communicate this as early as possible to all parents if there becomes a need to postpone.

KS2 SPORTS DAY

Where: Taunton School Playing Field, TA2 6LH

When: Monday 8th July, 10:00-12:00

What: 10:00-10:55 – Y3/4 races on track & Y5/6 field events

11:05-12:00 – Y3/4 field events & Y5/6 races on track

Spectating: Please see on the image below where parents will be able to enter (follow blue lines) and to watch the morning. This is located at the top of the bank where you’ll have a good view of the track and beside the field events. Please can parents/spectators stay within the blue viewing area, and to not encourage your children to come and see you during the activities due to safety reasons. When the activities end, parents will be asked to leave and children and staff will remain at Taunton School to prepare to return to school.

Extra information: There is no parking available on site, we encourage you to walk or park nearby. Please note there are no toilet facilites for spectators.

What children need: Every KS2 child will need to come into school wearing a top of their house colour (Brendon, Mendip, Quantock, Blackdown) and their PE shorts and trainers. Everyone will need two bottles of water.

The KS1 afternoon events are on separate afternoons for year groups. Each event will start at 1:15 and will finish at approximately 2:15-2:30pm. Parents will be asked to sign in at the gate (just a paper and pen sign in system). Parents will leave on conclusion of the event and the children will finish their school day at the normal time.

Shannon Moll

Shannon Moll has some very exciting news that she is expecting a baby in November. We are absolutely thrilled for Shannon and look forward to the safe arrival of her beautiful baby.

We have taken the decision to appoint a teacher to replace Shannon for the entire academic year and are delighted to have appointed Sophie Harlow, who will be joining us from West Monkton Primary School in September.

Sports Events

Wow, wow, wow!!!! North Town sent a hardball cricket team and a softball cricket team to Queens last Friday. I was really lucky to be able to get there for some of the day. I was so impressed by the determination and sporting attitudes of all the schools that took part in the day. It was amazing! North Town hardball cricket team qualified for the final after winning all their group games vs Queens, Milverton and Bishop Henderson. They played Queens in the final and won an exciting final with a fabulous team effort. The softball cricketers enjoyed a brilliant tournament and having been beaten by a strong Parkfield team, they won their remaining games vs West Monkton, Queens and Minehead Middle School to finish second. I was absolutely thrilled with both teams and it was super to see how thrilled they were with their successes. A huge thank you to Andy Venning and Caroline Foster for giving North Town and other schools this opportunity. Please see some reports from the children about this event and others this week.

On Friday, George C, George P, Jools, Arthur, Tom, Reuben, Bodhi and Ollie played in the hardball tournament. Bobbi, Will, Kacper, Carys, Rufus, Theo, Laurence and Elsie played in the softball tournament. Both sides played very well, we had many good wickets and Tom got an amazing 11 wickets on the day, and Arthur hitting 40 runs. Will did very well in wicket keeping for the softball team, helping his team being successful.

George C, 6JF

On Monday, we had cross country at Kings. We ran about 1.5k and the Y5 and Y6’s did really good. Everyone finished in really good times, with some people beating their best times. Well done to Austin, Olive and Sonia from Y5 and Jools, Arthur, George C, Leilani, Ollie and Tom from Y6.

Jools, 6JF
