Friday 26th September

Dear Parents and Carers,

I was absolutely delighted to see some amazing homework by Mina in Year 2 last Friday afternoon. Year Two have been learning about Mary Anning, a fossil collector from Lyme Regis. Mina produced some super writing and also found a fossil herself at Lyme Regis! I also received a brilliant piece of instructional writing from Christian in Year 5 on how to make the perfect burger! I will definitely be giving it a try very soon!

This morning I was visited by Aoife and Noah from Year 3. They had beaming smiles at they walked into see me and rightly so. They showed me their work on the Stone Age and spoke to me about the climate, settlements, food, tools, weapons and art in the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. I was so impressed with their knowledge, presentation and enthusiasm!

I had the pleasure of reading a story to our wonderful Pippins children today. They have settled in brilliantly and I was so impressed with them all.

I cannot believe that we are nearing the end of September! It really has been a settled start to the academic year. There really is a super atmosphere around the school and there is nothing I like more than observing the children enjoying their education.

Have a smashing weekend everyone!

Best wishes,

Mr Braund

Mufti Day – Friday 3rd October

Just a reminder that we have our first Mufi day of academic year next Friday (3rd October). The children wear non-uniform for the day in exchange for a £1 donation at the school gates in the morning.

North Town Sports Performance Tops

What has currently been the cricket tops is now going to become our Sports Performance Tops for all to purchase if you’d like one. The wording on the back will read ‘North Town Sport’ instead of cricket. The aim of this is for children to have their own top that could be used during after-school clubs or when representing the school at any sporting event. All are welcome to purchase one, but it is not a requirement. Sizing will be suited better to KS2 but KS1 are welcome to purchase also. This will not replace the PE tops and should not be used during the school day for PE lessons.

These will be on sale at Somerset County Sports, the website link is below (their shop is based at Somerset County Cricket Club). You can order a top online or in store. We have a L Junior top that children can try on in the school office, or you can go in store, and they could advise and may have more stock to try on. An order window has been set up, and all orders will need to be placed before 31st October for you to receive a few weeks after. Another order window will be set up again after but could be a much longer wait time.

The tops will cost £29 and there is a free collection option rather than paying for delivery.

Sports Events

On Monday, Clara, Darcey, Noah, Noah, Toby and Edward from Y3 and Bo, Alfie, Kaden, George, Harley and Freddie took part in a Cross Country event at Kings College Prep. All ran brilliantly, with lots having a go for the first time which was amazing to see. We have Y5/6 this coming Monday which is open to all and a Trust wide cross country coming up on the 27th November for more running opportunities.

Applying for North Town Primary School and Nursery

We have two open mornings planned for Thursday 23rd October and Thursday 13th November for parents and carers that have children starting school in September 2026. Please be aware that the deadline to apply for primary school places will Thursday 15th January. Please visit our school website homepage to book a place for our open mornings.

Applying for Secondary School

If your child is due to transfer to secondary school next September, please be aware that places in Taunton and Wellington are limited due to a high birth rate. It is important that you apply on time (deadline 31st October 2025) and choose 3 preferences of school. We also strongly recommend you include your catchment school as one of your preferences.

If you do not include your catchment school among your preferences and are refused your preferred schools, we cannot guarantee your child a place in the local area. Your child may then be offered a place at a school further away with no entitlement to travel assistance.
