Friday 27th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wanted to start my newsletter by thanking the school community for your care and compassion after an incident on Wednesday where a North Town parent became unwell at pick up. Your kindness and support was, once again, incredible and greatly appreciated. I am delighted to report that the parent is on the mend and recovering well. Thank you to you all.

Thank you to the School PTA for organising the Summer Fayre and the glorious weather last Friday. Thank you to the North Town Staff, children and volunteers for making everything the success that it was. It was so lovely to see you all and also so many past pupils. We raised £1700 on the day and have the raffle money to be added.

Our Year Six children will be experiencing their new secondary schools next week. They are all ready for this step and I wish them all the very best for an enjoyable few days.

Have a smashing weekend everyone.

Mr Braund

Emma Woodward

Our wonderful catering manager, Emma Woodward, will be leaving North Town today to take up a similar position at school local to her. We are all really sad to be losing Emma and are truly grateful to her and her amazing team for the food they offer at North Town and how they support with so much. We all wish Emma all the very best for the future and really hope that she stays in touch.

A huge thank you to Huish and our catering team for their support with catering for the final few weeks of the term.

Sports Events

Monday saw a group of Y3/4’s compete in a cross country event at Kings College Prep. Everyone tried their hardest and showed great determination throughout. Well done to Digby and Seth from Y4, and George AE, Harley F, Bo and Kaden from Y3.

On Tuesday, we played cricket at Wembdon CC for the softball county finals. 60 schools were originally involved and the top 12 were at the county finals. First game we played East Coker, and we beat them about by about 25 runs. Second game was against Hamp who we beat by 50 runs. Then we had our last game of the group stage against Southville and won convincingly again. This meant we were in the Semi Finals against the other Taunton team, Norton Fitzwarren. We beat them by our biggest score of about 55 runs. Tom took a double wicket maiden over in this game. We were extremely happy and excited for the finals against St Mary’s, who had beaten us in another competition earlier in the year. We were happy to beat them this time, but in our closest game. Ollie and Laurence were the highest score batting pair in this game, getting lots of clever singles. The final score was 68 to North Town and 61 to St Mary’s.

Tom B, 6JF & Ollie W, 6KN

On Thursday, we played Rounders at Wellsprings school agaisnt Ruishton and Wellsprings. It was competitive. Our first game we played Ruishton and then we played Wellsprings. We won both our games which means we should go through to a finals competition. The team was Ollie, Arthur, Jools, Tom, Bobbi, Will, Priya, Omer, Olive, Carys and Theo.
