Friday 4th July 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was really super to go back to the 80’s yesterday at the North Town Music event at Huish. The children performed brilliantly, and it was wonderful to see the variety of instruments played and with such confidence. The choir sung a fantastic selection of songs and had me on my air guitar with their Bon Jovi song. A huge thank you to the children and staff for making this possible. Mrs Purchase, Mrs Tidmarsh, Mrs Clifton and Mr Barrett have been working on this for many months and it was a huge success. A special mention to Mr Reading who joined Mr Barrett and the choir by playing his guitar for Status Quo – Rocking All Over The World.
It has been another week of visits from children with some fabulous letters from Year One and also some incredible Victorian facts from Year One. Year Two have completed some super work on what they would do if they ruled the world and both Year Four and Five have shown me some stunning art work good enough for an art gallery!
Our Year Six children are currently at the North Devon Wake Park and it was super to see them so excited as they left this morning.
This evening are our final DISCOs of the year and the children are very excited!
Have a super weekend.
Best wishes,
Mr Braund

Communications
The school year is certainly a busy one and we try to cram as much as possible into the year. This is just a reminder to all parents and carers of our methods of communication:
Newsletters – These are sent out every Friday to all parents and carers on Bromcom and this is also put on the homepage of our school website.
Emails – we send emails though our management information system (Bromcom.)
Class Dojo – Class teachers put as much information as possible on Dojo to ensure all parents and carers are aware of events and activities.
Please don’t ever hesitate in asking me or Mrs Screech on the gate about events etc and we will always support as best as we can.
Sports Events
On Monday we took our keen cricketers in Y5/6 to the County Ground to watch Day 2 of Somerset vs Nottinghamshire. We were very lucky to do the guard of honour. This involved standing on the pitch and waving the flags as the players walked out at the start of the game. We saw Somerset bat in the morning and bowl in the afternoon.
On Thursday 2 people from Y6 and 6 people from Y4 did Athletics. We did 4 events. 1st we did 400m run then we did something called howlers which are like soft javelins. Next, we did a 50m sprint. Last but not least we did a standing long jump into a sand pit. After that we had a break and then did a relay race where we did a 50m sprint and we had a baton and to had to pass it on. Overall, we came 2nd place as a school out of 13 schools. James from Y4 got 2nd place boy out of all the boys there.
Elsie W, 3DH
Y5/6 did well in an athletics tournament at Castle School after the Y3/4 event. There was two races and two field events which were 75m sprint and 600m run, and the two field events were standing long jump and vortex howler throw. The team was Arthur, Will, Bobbi, Ollie, George C, Olive, Laura and Kodie.
