9th January 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break with your families and friends. It was really good to see everyone on Monday morning with the children so excited at being back at school.

Please do check the key dates at the bottom of the newsletter for everything that is happening throughout the spring term.

Communications at any primary school is really important and we have three main avenues of communicating to our community. Firstly, we have the Friday newsletter. I always choose to write a weekly newsletter every Friday to keep the community as informed as possible. The community will know that there will always be a newsletter with the latest news on a Friday.  Class teachers will also communicate lots of information on Class Dojo. This is used to inform individual classes/year groups of goings on and reminders. Our final method of communication is Bromcom/MCAS (our management information system) where parents and carers receive emails, can pay for trips and clubs, book wraparound and order and pay for school meals. It may seem at times that parents and carers are being bombarded with information. All we aim to do is ensure that all parents and carers do not miss any important information. Please also remember that you can speak to me on the gate or any members of the North Town staff.

Have a smashing weekend everyone!

Best wishes,

Mr Braund

Trips and Experiences

We are very much aware about providing the children with as many experiences and opportunities as we possibly can and this includes trips and a range of visitors coming to the school to work with the children. An example of this is Year Four are currently planning for a chocolate maker to visit to school linked to their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory writing that they are currently doing. Unfortunately, school budgets are extremely tight and for experiences and trips to happen we rely on voluntary contributions from parents and carers to ensure that they can happen. The school budget does not have funding to pay for such experiences. Class teachers will always send communication out to parents and carers with plans for experiences and trips and costs. Unfortunately, if there aren’t enough contributions such trips cannot go ahead. Another important factor is the need for adult support. We are very fortunate at North Town where parents and carers have been supportive with trips. There have been times that we have almost had to cancel a trip due to a lack of adults available to help. Unfortunately, we do not have spare support staff that we can take from another year group to attend trips and do rely on parents and carers.  Every year group will be having a trip at some point this year and class teachers will communicate these plans nearer the time.

Parking Around the School

Please can all parents and carers be aware of our busy school community when approaching the area in vehicles before and after school. Can I also remind parents not to park on single yellow lines (unless you are a badge holder) or the yellow zig zags at the front of the school.

Request for Toys

If you have any movement/sound/light-up toddler and children toys at home that you are willing to donate they would be greatly received by the school for some of our children requiring sensory input.

We are also seeking donations of any play food please.

Request for swim kit

If you have any swimming costumes or swimming trunks and towels that are no longer needed at home and you are willing to donate, they would be greatly received by the school for those occasions that children forget their kit. We are particularly looking for ages 9 years and above please
