Friday 19th September
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was brilliant to see the Key Stage two children attending Mr Grave’s running club last Friday! The children really impressed me with their pace, their resilience and how much they enjoyed it. North Town will be competing in some cross country events over the coming weeks and it will fantastic to have as many children as possible representing the school in such events. North Town representation at extra curricular events is really important to us as a school and Mr Grave updates regularly on what we have been competing in weekly. Only yesterday, North Town took part in an archery event at Nerrols Primary School. What is important to us is that children are given opportunities, they enjoy themselves and they go and represent themselves and the school brilliantly.
Best wishes,
Mr Braund
Attendance – Thank you!
I just wanted to thank the whole community with our high attendance data at North Town. Attendance at North Town is really strong is getting stronger and stronger. You, as a community, play a huge part in making this possible.
Bikes and Scooters
Please can we politely ask that all children come off their bikes and scooters at the main gate on Staplegrove Road and walk them up to the school. This is to ensure that there are no collisions or accidents with so many families accessing the premises at the start and end of the school day.
School Uniform
I have been so impressed with how smart the children look in their North Town school uniform and PE kit. Just a reminder that hair accessories must be green. We also ask that children wearing earrings must wear studded earrings.
Winter Coats
It is certainly feeling very autumnal these past days. Please can parents and carers ensure that children come to school with a suitable coat (and with a name on the label.) We try to ensure we can have the children outside as much for fresh air and a run around at breaktime and lunch time throughout the autumn and winter months.
New School Times
Thank you to you all for ensuring that the children are in class by 8:45am every morning. This is working really well and it has enabled lessons to start promptly at 8:50. Just a reminder that we keep the gates open until 8:50 to give parents and carers 5 minutes to leave the premises. We do ask anyone arriving after 8:45 to let the office staff know they are here so that they can be marked in as present on the register.
Phones
Thank you to you all with your support in making North Town a mobile phone free zone. It is working really well and we have appreciated your understanding and support on this decision. Please ensure that phones are kept in pockets and bags when entering the school premises.
Individual Photos
Just a reminder that we have individual pupil photos at North Town on Thursday 25th September. Please can all children be in full school uniform on this day and not their PE kit. Year 6 and Year 5 children to bring in their PE kits on this day to change into. Year 5 and 6 class teachers will send out a Class Dojo reminder on Wednesday evening.
Sports Events
On Thursday, Jack, Amy, Fenna and Konstantinos took part in an Archery Festival at Nerrols Primary School along with our other Trust schools. It was a great event with lots of opportunities to take part in different archery activities to test our skills. Feedback from the children was great with the traffic lights game being a favourite!
Developments at North Town
We are really pleased with the progress that is being made on the school house. It is hoped that this will be the base for the office team by the end of the autumn term.
Applying for North Town Primary School and Nursery
We have two open mornings planned for Thursday 23rd October and Thursday 13th November for parents and carers that have children starting school in September 2026. Please be aware that the deadline to apply for primary school places will Thursday 15th January. Please visit our school website homepage to book a place for our open mornings.
Applying for Secondary School
If your child is due to transfer to secondary school next September, please be aware that places in Taunton and Wellington are limited due to a high birth rate. It is important that you apply on time (deadline 31st October 2025) and choose 3 preferences of school. We also strongly recommend you include your catchment school as one of your preferences.
If you do not include your catchment school among your preferences and are refused your preferred schools, we cannot guarantee your child a place in the local area. Your child may then be offered a place at a school further away with no entitlement to travel assistance.
