Dear Parents and Carers,
I cannot believe that next week is Parent’s Evening already! The weeks are flying and it has been another busy week at North Town.
On Monday we held our Harvest Assembly and left the Open Door Charity lost for words with your kind food donations! Thank you for your support and generosity.
On Tuesday, it was an absolute pleasure to welcome many visitors to the school for an open morning for families with children starting school in September 2025. I was immensely proud with the feedback I received from our visitors. It was wonderful to walk into every classroom and see happy, enthusiastic and engaged children. To walk into our Pippins classrooms and see them absorbed in various activities and then to walk across to Year One and see them listening so intently to the lesson input was a joy to see. We continued to walk throughout the whole school where we were met with children focussing on their work and soaking up the learning opportunities. It was super to finish in Year 6 and hear their excitement about their residential trip they were about to go on. Some of our Year 6 children supported with the open morning. The confidence they showed in speaking about the school and the clear enjoyment of attending North Town shone through!
On Wednesday, our Year Six children excitedly boarded the coach for their residential adventure to Charter House. The excitement was evident and they very much deserved the experience. Three days of outdoor educational experiences will undoubtedly have been enjoyed and the memories will last forever. A huge thank you to the team for making this possible and putting so much effort into ensuring that everyone has the best time.
Have a smashing weekend everyone!

Parent’s Evening
It will be wonderful to see parents and carers at our up and coming Parent’s Evenings. Attached is additional information about the evening such as where to find your children’s books and the need to be in the hall for your appointment time. All is explained on the attached sheet.
Wraparound
Please can we politely request that parents and carers book places at wraparound as early as possible. At present, we aim to keep the wraparound at a maximum of 45 children attending. We cannot allow for parents and carers to not book and assume the wraparound team can accommodate as this can have a huge impact.
The office team are excellent at monitoring the booking system and unfortunately there are times we have to turn people away.
As ever, please can parents and carers speak with the office team if ever there are issues with booking.
Sports Events
On Monday 7th October Year 3 and 4 took part in the invasion games. We played 4 games including ultimate frisbee, endzone, handball and football. We played Blackbrook, Bishops Henderson & St Georges. I think we did really well working as a team and passing to each other, we won some of our games. I really enjoyed taking part. The team was Safia, Hugo, Harrison, Jack, Eesaa, Seth, Fergus, Annabelle & Digby. Thank you, Mr Grave.

Readathon
The time has come around for our next North Town Readathon! Last year, our readathon was super successful, with the children reading over 450 hours! Some individual children created their own personal challenges and made their class teachers incredibly proud. This money was put towards new books in the library, updated books in our reading corners, as well as securing other English resources for phonics and writing. This could not have been done without the children’s incredible efforts, but also your help and encouragement and we are grateful for the support you provided.
This year, our Readathon is going to take place on the week 18th November to 23rd November, along with other primary schools in our trust. We want this event to help enthuse and motivate ALL of the children to read – reading anything, anywhere! This could be anything from recipes and magazines to their chosen book from the school library, not only at school and home but wherever they are. If you think of your child as a reluctant reader, this is the perfect time to inspire and engage them in reading about their favourite things, preparing them for a more positive reading experience in future years.
More information will be shared about this after half term. Thank you in advance for your support and contributing towards benefitting the reading of the whole of North Town.
Asda Cash Pot
You may have noticed the adverts by Joe Wicks on the TV recently that Asda has an initiative to earn money to benefit schools.
If you have an Asda reward.card then you can help the school. If you click on the cashpot info on the app then you can nominate us as the school you want the money to go to and then every time you shop you will see get your own rewards but also Asda will then give a percentage on top to the school.
There are posters around the school with information or head to the Asda website if you need more.
It would be great to have as many parents (and also the community) to join the scheme to help us raise as much funding as possible.
Spread the word!!
