Dear Parents and Carers,
This week our Year Six children have completed a mock SATs week. The organisation in ensuring the week goes as smoothly as possible takes a lot of thought, a lot of time and a lot of preparation. A huge thank you to Miss Newstead, Miss Fairfax and the staff that have supported throughout the week. Throughout the week, I have been in the hall with Mr Reading and 39 children. We have observed with absolute pride as the children have been so focussed, so determined and so resilient with how they have approached the papers. Miss Newstead and Miss Fairfax have said the same about their groups. We couldn’t have asked anymore of them. A huge well done to the children – keep up the super effort and attitude!
Please see an example below of one of the questions the children had in their maths reasoning paper:
It has been another busy few weeks at North Town and it now time for an enjoyable and restful half term. Have a wonderful break and thank you for your continued support.
Best wishes,
Mark Braund
Wedding News
Miss Fowler is getting married at half term. We are all delighted for her and wish her the most magical day with her husband to be, family and friends. When she returns she will be Mrs Daymond.
We need your help with an opportunity for funding?
We have a chance to receive funds to improve our playground through Cllr Ellis. She needs to show popular backing so please ping her saying ‘yes please do apply for money for our playground scheme from your ward member scheme’ and add any benefits you think this will bring for your children.
The benefits would be immense. It would give the children opportunity to have a variety of activities to do throughout their lunchtime including a creativity zone, a sports zone, a sensory garden zone and an area where children can play outdoor games or read on picnic tables outside.
The zones will ensure the children will have variety and choice, it will help develop their imagination and creativity skills as well as lots of physical exercise and a space to relax.
Please can as many parents WhatsApp or text Cllr Ellis on 07473 119425 or email cllr.c.ellis@taunton-tc.gov.uk / cjellis1968@googlemail.com.
Grants and Donations
I have sent a letter out to all parents and carers today to raise awareness of accessing funding through grants and donations from companies. We continue to have huge aims for improving the school premises and would appreciate if any parents or carers could put us in touch with companies that offer such grants.
Sports Events
Congratulations to Mr Grave’s beloved Plymouth Argyle in beating Mr Braund’s beloved Liverpool in the cup last Sunday – a well-deserved win. Thank you to Mr Grave for secretly surprising Mr Braund on Monday morning with many staff wearing Plymouth Argyle shirts! Mr Braund loved it and found it very amusing.
On Monday, we did an all inclusive sports events. We did archery, football, rugby and netball. We both really enjoyed rugby and archery, we enjoyed archery because we both got two on the board! The team was Olive, Omer, Tiago and Konstantinos.
Olive S, 5PC & Omer B, 5EF
This Wednesday we played a netball competition at school on the playground. We did some practise before the other schools arrived and then we started playing our matches. We played really well against St Georges in our first game. We got even better in our next two games against Wellsprings and Staplegrove. At the end of each half, we all swapped bibs and played in different positions. Because we did so well, we’ve got the Taunton Area Finals coming up soon. The team was Bobbi, Rufus, Carys, Kayla, Elsie, Percie, Jools and Tom.

Chicks
The Pippins children have thoroughly enjoyed having a delivery of eggs and watching them hatch into chicks over the past two weeks. Everyone was sad to see them go off to the farm.
NSPCC donations
Thank you for everyone’s donations toward the NSPCC last week as we dressed up for number’s day. We raised a total of £309.95.
Mr Grave also wanted to extend another thank you to those who have donated to his justgiving page, if anyone else wishes to donate, the link is below.
