16th May 2025

Friday 16th  May 2025

Dear parent/carer,

What a week for our Year Six children! All we ask is that the children do the best they possibly can and they certainly did. The attitude, determination and resilience of all 64 of our children has been brilliant! I am so proud of them all and could not have asked anymore of them. A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for the support you give and to the North Town team for ensuring the week went smoothly and for giving the children the education and support that they give.

We had one of our local PCSO’s (Brian Lee) visit during the week and he spoke with me and a few parents at the gate. As Brian left, he spoke about the feel of the school and the interaction between staff and parents. Thank you to you all for your ongoing support and how you work with us.

Have a smashing weekend everyone.

Best wishes,

Mr Braund

North Town Cricket

A huge well done to the North Town cricket team in giving Taunton School a close game on Tuesday evening. I was absolutely delighted to hear how well the team did with their performance and also sporting attitudes. What a team and what smashing progress. I only wish we could have more matches!

On Tuesday, after-school we went to Taunton School to play a cricket match in a cup competition. It was a close game, we lost but did better than last time we played them. It was over 100 runs last time, but a lot less this game. Well done to the team, who was Theo S, Arthur, Tom, George C, George P, Bobbi M, Ollie and Jools.

Summer Wraparound

We are currently considering offering a summer holiday wraparound provision at North Town for the first and last weeks of the summer holidays. Mr Grave is kindly running a holiday club for the other weeks. We will only be able to do this if we feel there is enough interest. The summer wraparound will open from 9am – 3pm at a cost of £20 per day. Parents and carers will be asked to send their children in with drinks, snacks and a packed lunch.

We will send a link to a survey on Monday for parents and carers to complete. Please can this be completed by Thursday 22nd May to help us plan our next steps.

10 Years of Junior Park Run

I received an email from the brilliant ex Staplegrove Head (Kirsty Nelson) on Wednesday asking if we could promote 10 years of Junior Park Run on Sunday 25th May at Long Run Meadow.   Throughout the past ten years, there have been:

  • 423 junior parkrun events to take place.
  • 4002 different runners to run 2k on Sunday mornings over  that 10 years.
  • 8248 children to get a personal best
  • 99 school groups to be involved

So, on Sunday 25th May 2025 they will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary with the  weekly 2KM Junior parkrun at Longrun Meadow, Taunton.

It would be great to see a record number of children participating to celebrate this milestone. Maybe they could run in school colours.

Here is the link to the website if you would like more information about the event
