Dear Parents and Carers,

Throughout this week, our Year Six children have been completing their SATs. They have all had a brilliant week and have impressed us with their attitude and determination. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers for the support with preparing the children for the tests and to the North Town staff team who have ensured the build up has been as smooth as possible. They had the whole week meticulously planned and this even included putting on a SATs breakfast everyday! Well done Super Sixes, I am so proud of you all.

I was delighted to have some children from Year One visit me on Wednesday with some brilliant descriptive writing. They were so excited to show me their work and the standard was excellent.

Have a smashing weekend everyone.

Friday 24th May – Wear Red and Yellow for Dementia Awareness

We will be asking all of our children to wear red and yellow to school next week for a monetary donation for Dementia Awareness. The day will include all the children and nursery taking part in a 20 minute danceathon on the school playground.

Cake Sale

Year 6 will be holding a cake sale after school on Friday 24th May to raise money for their Crealy trip.

Parent Share afternoons

Thank you for the many comments we have received about the parent share afternoons. We are really pleased with how much you all enjoyed the opportunity to visit classrooms. Just a reminder that the Year Six classes will be having their parent share on Friday 24th May at 2:45pm.

KS2 Sports Day

The North Town KS2 Sports Day will be held on Monday 8th July at 10am at Taunton School on their upper sports field. All KS2 parents and carers are invited to join us for the morning from 10am until 12pm. This is the first time we have used Taunton School and we are extremely grateful to them for making it possible and the use of their facilities. Unfortunately there will be no available parking on the day and encourage parents to walk or park nearby.

Wraparound

The wraparound staff have kindly requested that children do not bring money to wraparound to buy things on sale afterschool, for example cake or ice creams.  Unfortunately, they do not have the staff to accommodate this.

INSET Day

Just a reminder that we have an INSET day on Monday 3rd June and that the children will return to school after the May half-term on Tuesday 4th June.

North Town Cricket Team

Congratulations to the North Town Cricket Team on qualifying for the semi-final of the under 11’s Cricket Cup! A dramatic finish with sensational bowling from Arthur sealed the win! What a team and what a performance!

Taunton Flower Show

There are many ways for families to get involved in Taunton Flower Show 2023. Discounted tickets are available until 26th July  and children are free with a paying adult.

Design a Badge Competition – Enter our ‘Design a badge’ competition to design the winning badge given to all the children’s competitions entrants. Deadline is 2nd June 2024

Pick up a form from the visitors centre or download the form from our website https://tauntonfs.co.uk/design-a-badge-competition-2024/

Children’s Competitions – Our competition schedule has a whole section of classes for children to enter ranging from fun with flowers, cookery, arts and crafts and photography. There really is something for everyone. View it online at https://tauntonfs.co.uk/competitors/

Ready Steady Garden Competition – We are looking for teams to enter our Ready Steady Garden competition and our Saturday competition is for children and young people. This year, 4 teams of 2 people will compete to make a planter using some plants provided and a tractor tire as the plant holder. Last year we had teams with children from St Andrews Church School and Pyrland School and all the children had fun. Parents accompanying the children will get free entry and the competition runs for about an hour just around lunchtime. No experience necessary, just sign up and have a go!
