Dear Parents and Carers,
What a term! It certainly has been a busy and enjoyable term. The build up to Christmas has been truly magical and it has been wonderful to see the children enjoy all the events.
I am so proud of how our Pippins children have settled into primary school life. It’s a big step to start primary school and they have all impressed us all with how brilliant they’ve been throughout their first term.
Our Year Six children have completed their first term of their final year before they move onto secondary school and are being the role models we expect them to be.
I take a lot of pride in seeing the children across the school seem so smiley and happy to come to school every day. This clearly has a positive impact on their educational experience and the progress they make.
I very much appreciate the team of staff I have at North Town and the relationships they have with the children and each other. I see the work that goes on behind the scenes and their energy and enthusiasm impress me every day.
I am really grateful to you all with the relationships you have with the staff at the school – working together to support the children as best as possible. Your kindness and support is very much appreciated.
I hope you all enjoy this festive season filled with love, joy, and rest, surrounded by family and friends. May the new year be a happy and healthy one for you all.
Wishing you a truly magical Christmas and a happy new year.
Best wishes,
Mr Braund
Christmas Service
What a wonderful finish to the autumn term! What a fantastic turnout from parents and carers and what a truly lovely Christmas Service. The children sung beautifully, read confidently and performed with so much enthusiasm. Thank you to Miss Newstead and Miss Causley for organising the service and to Mrs Purchase for leading the choir. A truly beautiful occasion!
Christmas Dinner Day
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to our amazing catering team for putting on such a magnificent feast on Wednesday. Approximately 450 Christmas dinners were served and they team made it look easy!
The children had a wonderful time enjoying their meals, pulling crackers and singing along to some festive classics. A memory that will stick in my mind forever was our Year Six children singing along to ‘Last Christmas’. All of them having so much fun and enjoying this special time of year.
Thank you to Mrs Newstead for organising the rota for the day, to Mr Reading for helping with everything and being the DJ as well (he even played a Christmas song by his beloved Status Quo!) and to all the staff for helping with serving and tidying up.
Christmas Jumper Day
The children and staff looked fabulous in their Christmas jumpers last Friday. Thank you for the kind donations for ‘Save the Children.’ We raised £281.05.
Hard Ball Cricket at North Town
Mr Grave and I had a meeting with Scott Chappell from Somerset Cricket Club last week to discuss further opportunities with Somerset Cricket. It astonished us both to hear that North Town is the only state primary school in the whole of Somerset playing hardball cricket. I messaged Mr Venning with this statistic and he is so proud of what he started at the school. We aim to build on his excellent work to continue to give the children opportunities. We are keen to play some more matches over the summer and would appreciate if any parents that have links with out of school cricket clubs to see if there is a chance a game can be arranged. North Curry Under 11’s Cricket Team have already said yes to a game.
Spring Term
Just a reminder that the children return to school on Tuesday 7th January 2025.

Reading at North Town
What a great reading month! Thank you so much for your incredible support with our readathon – we have raised over £2000! The children have done an amazing job, with lots of children reaching their targets and some children reading over 1,000 minutes in a week. Results will be announced soon.
Not only that, but these 14 children have done an amazing job in their either their phonics or reading this month and shown their teachers their amazing attitude towards it. A big well done to November’s Readers of the Month.
