Friday 23rd May 2025
Dear parent/carer,
How have we got to May half-term? It has been another busy but enjoyable half term at North Town. The second part of the summer term will be even busier but with so many events to look forward to.
This week I was visited by Ava and Orla in Year One with exciting news that they had climbed Pen Y Fan in a charity fundraiser for forces amputee veterans. They spoke so confidently and enthusiastically about their achievements! I am so proud of them.
Our school choir were lucky enough to visit the recording studio at Richard Huish College on Monday and recorded themselves singing ‘Happy.’ Our Year Six children have visited Pizza Express this week to make, cook and enjoy eating pizzas! They also visited Taunton Museum.
We have also had a lot of sporting opportunities this week which you will see below.
Wishing you all a very happy and restful half term break and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 3rd June.
Best wishes,
Mr Braund
Sports Events
On Monday, we did a cricket event for Y5 and Y6’s. We played against other schools around the town and North Town had two teams. I enjoyed bowling and batting and nearly got a wicket in one of the games. Both teams played really well and also the other teams did well.
Omer B, 5ED
On Thursday, we did athletics at Lyngford. We competed against Lyngford, North Curry and West Buckland. We did a long run, a sprint, javelin and long jump, and finished with a relay race. Well done to the team who were Priya, Olive, Lilli, Kodie, Ollie, Jools, Rufus and George C.
Priya P, 6JF
Everyone in rounders was amazing despite not having a full squad. We played 3 games, it was tough but I enjoyed the fielding the most. The team was Tom, Omer, Bobbi, Will, Funmi and Carys. We also had a couple girls from West Monkton join our team.

GRV Coaching Summer Multi-Sports
Booking for Multi-Sports with Mr Grave during the summer holidays is now open. All parents/carers will have received an email with booking information earlier today.
North Town School House
We are delighted with the news that the school house (which has been empty for over three years) will be developed in the coming weeks and months so that the school office team will be located there in the near future. We are really delighted with this news and the plans.
Holiday Wraparound
Thank you to the parents and carers who took the time to complete the ‘Summer Wraparound’ survey. Unfortunately, there was not enough interest to make it viable on this occasion. I am really grateful to the staff who approached me regarding this opportunity. Mr Grave will continue to run his holiday clubs at the school.
Wraparound Resources
We are always looking at updating our wraparound resources. Before we purchase new games, if any families have any games or outdoor resources that are no longer used, the wraparound team would appreciate them.
