Friday 29th November 2024
Dear Parents and Carers,
The only things missing from Lyngford Park Primary School (when North Town Girls Football Team and North Town Boys Football Team played) was the SKY TV cameras and commentators! Two matches were played at the same time and what excitement! The girls came from 4-2 down to win 7-5 and the boys were also victorious with a 7-5 win as well. What impressed me the most was the sporting behaviour, resilience and efforts of all children from both North Town and Lyngford Park. A huge well done to them all!
I have seen lots of super work these past days! Descriptive writing from Year One, Factors from Year Four and so much more.

Monday 25th – Football Area Finals
On Monday, we had the football Area Finals at Castle School on the astro. We played 5 mini games, we lost 2, drew 2 and won 1. The game we won was against Cheddon Fitzpaine and we beat them 4-0. Joey scored 2, Arthur and Will scored a goal each. Bobbi and Theo played really well in defence. Tom had a really good few games in goal, keeping 2 clean sheets. Rufus and George P played brilliantly on the wings. Overall, we enjoyed playing and did a really good job representing the school.

Tuesday 26th – Boys and Girls Football vs Lyngford
Tuesday 26th saw North Town Girls take on local rivals. If anyone thinks football isn’t for girls, then they are very wrong. Our team had a wonderful time, and consisted of Bobbi, Carys, Selene, Arabella, Georgie, Olive and Megan K. Lyngford Park Primary School hosted. They put up a great fight, but we beat them 7-5. The match was about 20 minutes each way.
Carys P, 5PC
Joey got off to a flying start with the first goal. Lyngford quickly equalised with a great counterattack and goal. George P out NT ahead again with a lovely assist by Will to make it 2-1. The home team levelled the score yet again with a tap in. The half time whistle went signalling the end of a tough and evenly contested first half. With switching positions, the second half was ready to begin.
The second half was outstanding! George C put North Town ahead early on with an amazing finish from a pinpoint cross by George P. Then NT went 4-2 up with a goal by Will. Lyngford was under further pressure when Ollie scored to make it 5-2. Brilliant midfield play by Jegath along with Archie making crunching tackles at vital moments at the back meant NT were in a healthy position. tackles at vital moments at the back meant NT were in a healthy position. A superb solo effort by George C made it 6-2. Also, fantastic goal keeping by Imran kept Lyngford out of the NT goal on numerous occasions. Then the home side started to rally in the remaining 10mins with a goal to make it 6-3. Lyngford got another goal to make it 6-4 as the light started to fade. Then Will made it 7-4 with a thunder bolt of a strike. This had you on the edge of your seat and made it an exciting match. There were some fouls from NT some from Lyngford this did cause free kicks and a last-minute penalty for Lyngford awarded from the referee, the tension was building, a goal! This made it 7-5, the final whistle blew. Both teams shook hands. As well as the goals, the mental endurance of the players was brilliant.
WELL DONE North Town!!!
Archie S, 5EF
