I am really proud of the sporting opportunities that are provided at North Town where the children enter into competitive tournaments. We invest a lot of time instilling into the children the importance of winning well and losing well and showing respect to their opponents and the referees/umpires.
The past days have seen the North Town Cricket Teams enter tournaments and achieve great success with both the girls and boys cricket teams qualifying for the area hardball cricket finals. On Wednesday Mr Grave took a team of cricketers to a match v Kings Prep School and played a phenomenal game, narrowly beaten by 10 runs! I was most delighted with the feedback on the sporting behaviour of our children and how they represented themselves and the school.
This week I have had Noah, Jasmine and Evie-Mai from Year One visit me to show me their fabulous writing! I had to remind myself that they were year one children and using such superb descriptive writing.
Have a smashing Bank Holiday weekend everyone!
Mr Braund
Congratulations to Mr Grave
He only went and did it! Mr Grave successfully ran the London Marathon on Sunday with a time of 3 hrs 14 minutes and 22 seconds. It is a truly amazing achievement after many months of training! We are all so pleased for Chris and for raising a really impressive amount of money for such a good cause.
Sunny Weather
With the glorious weather we have had these past days, can I please remind parents and carers to send their children in with sun cream already applied and with a summer hat. Please note that we do not allow children to wear sunglasses at school.
The summer term also is a time where the children can wear our warm weather uniform. These are:
Warm Weather Options (Between April and October at parents’ discretion)
Green & white gingham dress
Grey shorts
White short sleeved shirt (NOT polo shirts)
Can I also remind parents and carers that hair ties and accessories should be green, grey, white or black.
Jewellery other than plain ear studs, make up, and temporary tattoos are not permitted.
In readiness for the autumn term, can I please remind parents and carers that we do not allow children to wear winter boots to school as part of our uniform.
VE Day 8th May.
As the end of World War 2 was a momentous turning point in world history, we will be marking the first day of peace with assemblies and appropriate class activities. While a day of celebration, VE Day also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the war, including the millions of lives lost and the widespread devastation. It would be fantastic if the children could come to school in either red, white or blue clothing instead of school uniform.
Sports Events
On Monday, we had the boys, and girls softball Taunton Area Cricket Finals. Both teams played two or three 30 ball games where a batting pair faced 10 balls and everyone had to bowl a 5 ball over. Everyone showed great togetherness and skill, with the boys finishing in first place and the girls taking second place in their competition. Well done to Arthur, Ollie, Tom, Jools, Laurence, Theo, Seth & Jack, and Elsie, Bobbi, Clara, Luna, Ellie & Carys.
This Wednesday we went up to Kings Prep to play a cricket match. It was a hardball match and it was a close one. Kings Prep won, so North Town lost by 10 runs. Congratulations to the team which is Tom, Arthur, Theo, Laurence, Reuben, Bodhi, George C and George P. Arthur I, 6JF
On Thursday, our school North Town went to a football competition against loads of other schools. The first two games we won 1-0 now and it was really fun to celebrate. Against Bishops Henderson we had loads of chances, but they scored in the early minutes which meant it was 1-0 to them. We beat Trull 5-0, but Arthur chose to play for Staplegrove as they had a player less and he scored 2 and assisted 2 which meant they beat us in the last game. Overall North Town finished second. Well done to Will, Arthur, Bobbi, Theo, Rufus, Laurence, Ollie and Art.
