Dear Parents and Carers,

At North Town, we try to give the children a range of opportunities for them to experience. On Wednesday, Mr Grave took a group of children to a netball event at Taunton School. I was on the gate when the children returned and they were buzzing with excitement having played some great games. I was absolutely delighted to see how much they had enjoyed the opportunity and even more delighted on receiving an email with the following words from Mr Grave on Wednesday night:

I just wanted to share how impressed I was with the children’s behaviour and attitude at the Netball event at Taunton School today. They showed maturity and organisation to arrange teams and rotate positions fairly. They were polite and respectful, and played some fantastic netball. It honestly couldn’t have been better!

Well done to the children and a huge thank you to Mr Grave for making this possible.

I was really impressed to see some super phonics work that had been completed at home from one of our Pippins children. Florence came to my office and not only showed me her work, but she also read it beautifully! What a star!

Thank you to all the parents and carers who kindly took the time to visit North Town throughout the week and joined us for phonics lessons. I know the children were thrilled to have our visitors and the staff were delighted with the turnout and feedback. Thank you to Mrs Richards and the staff for making this possible.

Have a smashing weekend everyone!

Mr Braund

Phonics at North Town

Thank you to everyone who attended our phonics open mornings. We really enjoyed having you in class. We value your feedback to help us improve future events and better support your child’s learning at home. If you have attended our phonics open mornings this week, we would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete this short form by following the link. https://forms.office.com/e/mmPLrcSXyT?origin=lprLink

Thank you, Mrs Richards

School PTA

A huge thank you to our PTA who have kindly agreed to donate £5000 to the school to improve the KS2 playground experience. There is so much that we would like to do and this will help make a start with some of the changes we wish to make.

Sports Events

On Monday, we played a basketball tournament at Kingsmead against many different schools. Our teams won most of the games and we played well in them, scoring lots of baskets. The players were Rufus and Theo from Y5 and Will, Art, Bobbi, Daniel, George and Jools from Y6.

On Wednesday, after lunch we went to walk to Taunton School to play netball. We had 3 North Town teams, and we played against all three Taunton School teams. We played well as a team, the passing and shooting was great. Team 1 was Jools, Tom, Matilda, Isla, Alivia and Luna, team 2 was Bobbi, Kayla, Florence, Megan, Elsie and Percie, and team 3 was Rufus, Theo, Laurence, Carys, Olive and Hermione.

Test Fest

Test Fest is a music festival with a message – the only one of its kind in the UK and maybe the world! This Family Friendly Music Festival Showcasing Local Grassroots music in Taunton Somerset UK. The Hoosiers and Woody Cook (yes, son of Norman Cook and Zoe Ball) are the headline acts for Test Fest Music Festival 2025!

Probably the most affordable music festival in the South West at just £25. We know times have been tough and attending live music events have become very expensive. That is why we have kept costs down, have a very reduced Youth Ticket and Children go FREE. So a great family day out.

There’s lots for the children to do too! We have Art and Craft Workshops, Samba Drums to try, Games, Tombola and much more.

Most testicular cancer awareness campaigns focus on sport, colleges, universities and workplaces. However, stats reveal that young men are the largest group of attendees at music festivals, so why not focus on music to encourage awareness. So this is a music festival organised It’s in the Bag Cancer Support who are the only Testicular Cancer charity in the South West of England

Camping is from Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd June for tents, campervans and motorhomes (NO CARAVANS)
