Thursday 3rd April
Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s incredible to think that when we return after the holidays that we will be in the final term of the academic year! It has been a really busy but enjoyable term. We have so much to look forward to in the summer term including the KS2 music concert at Richard Huish College, Sports Days, the Summer Fayre, the Year Six Production and much more!
This week I was visited by George in Year Three who showed me his amazing homework about volcanoes, earthquakes, the layers of Earth and the story of ‘famous fossil hunter’ Mary Anning. I also saw an amazing dinosaur from Suvannah in Pippins. Kosi in Year Four visited my office to show me his outstanding of a train! Wonderful work!
Wishing you all a happy and restful Easter holidays with your families and friends and we all look forward to seeing you all again on Tuesday 22nd April.
Best wishes,
Mr Braund
Year Six SATS Week
Just a reminder to all parents and carers of children in Year Six that the SATs tests are on Monday 12th May.
North Town Runathon
A massive well done to everyone that took part in the Runathon, we had some fantastic efforts and brilliant fundraising. We have raised a total of £1,060 and counting.
Communication regarding children walking home
Some of our older children at North Town walk home from school independently or with a friend. Parents and carers kindly complete a form to give their child permission to do this. We have had times where a child walks home as they have permission but the parent/carer arrives to pick up their child but they have already gone. Can I please ask if ever there is a day when a parent is planning to pick up that this is communicated to the class teacher so that they are aware. This also happens at times with Wraparound where a child is booked in but arrangements have changed, please can this be communicated to the school.
Use of mobile phones on school site
We would like to remind you that mobile phones should only be brought into school if your child is walking home independently. If your child is being picked up by an adult, there is no need for them to bring a phone into school.
As a school, we are reinforcing the rule that children should not be using their phones while on school premises. Please remind your child that phones must be handed to their teacher, remain off and out of sight until they have left the school site.
To support this, we kindly ask parents and carers to also refrain from using their phones while on school grounds. This will help us maintain a safe and focused environment for all our pupils.
Additionally, children attending after-school clubs or wraparound care will be required to hand in their phones at the start of the session. These will be securely stored and returned at the end of the club or when the child leaves wraparound care.
We appreciate your support on this matter, helping to keep North Town a safe environment for all children.
KS2 Sports Days 2025
We can confirm that the KS2 Sports Day will be at Taunton School on Monday 7th July, 10:00am – 12:15pm. We had our first ever Sports Day at Taunton School last year and it was a huge success. The attendance of parents and carers was fantastic and we appreciated the feedback we received. We are all very much looking forward to another exciting morning of races and other sporting activities.

Sports Events
On Thursday we hosted a few other local primary schools for a netball event after-school. It was great to see lots of skilful netball on show, and games played with respect and sportsmanship. Well done to our Y5/6 netballers that took part.
Wraparound
Just a reminder to all parents and carers to ensure that a place has been booked to get a space at wraparound. There have been times where children have arrived at the morning breakfast club without booking. It is important that all parents and carer ensure they have booked a place.
