Dear Parents and Carers,

North Town has been filled with numbers today and the children and staff have looked fabulous! A good understanding of maths and number is vital in a world that is filled with numbers. From house numbers to registration plates; sports scores to baking; telling the time to finding the best deal at the shops – numbers are everywhere!

We’ve had a great day with numbers today, have a look at some of the brilliant photos on Class Dojo.

Have a smashing weekend everyone!

Richard Huish Trust ‘Look Who’s Talking’ Competition

I was lucky enough to attend the ‘Look Who’s Talking’ competition at West Buckland Primary School last night and what a brilliant event it was! To hear all of our children from across the Huish primary schools speak so confidently and clearly was fantastic! Well done to Megan and Fergus who represented North Town in the finals. They were both amazing and should be so incredibly proud of themselves. Megan spoke about her dog and the many puppies and Fergus spoke about flags. Fergus won the Year Three/Four competition.

Asda Cashpot

Thank you to all the parents and carers who kindly signed up for Asda’s Cashpot for schools. We raised £420.80 for the school.

Attendance at North Town

Like all schools, we monitor attendance really carefully at North Town and we are really pleased with our attendance figures. Thank you to all our parents and carers with your support in ensuring that the children are attending school and accessing their education.

Sports Events

On Thursday, we went to Veritas Park to play touch rugby. First up, we did four drills including piggy in the middle, bulldog, last man standing and robin hood. Then we played two matches against Parkfield. We won 25-5 and against St Andrews we won 10-5. The team was Monty, Jack D, Freddie, Finley, Jack R, Seth, Digby and Alfie. We all enjoyed the team bulldog game and the matches.

North Town Uniform

The Year Six children wrote a persuasive letter to me recently to convince me to no longer have school uniform (nice try Year Six!)

I did reply to the children and mentioned the importance of uniform for many reasons with the main reason being uniforms can foster a sense of belonging and pride in the school community. When students wear the same uniform, it can strengthen their connection to the school and to one another.

Just a reminder of our school uniform policy:

North Town School Uniform
Logo sweatshirt or cardigan*
White shirt (NOT polo shirt)
Tie*
Grey trousers/skirt/pinafore
Grey, black or white socks
Grey or green tights
Black shoes (No boots, pumps or trainers)

Warm Weather Options (Between April and October at parents’ discretion)
Green & white gingham dress
Grey shorts
White short sleeved shirt (NOT polo shirts)
No tie in warm weather at the discretion of the Head/Senior Leadership

Hair ties and accessories should be green, grey, white or black.

Jewellery other than plain ear studs, make up, and temporary tattoos are not permitted.

Thank you very much for your understanding and co-operation

Please can I remind parents and carers that our warm weather options for uniform can be worn between April and October half-term. Also, earrings must be plain studs and not hoops.

Bleed Kit

You may have noticed a ‘Bleed Kit’ now available for the community use outside of our school gate on Staplegrove Road. The Kits are available freely for members of the public to deploy at the scene of a medical incident where a patient has suffered a catastrophic bleed. Please can we ask that children are discouraged from tampering with the kit.

Half Term

Just a reminder that we break up for half term at the end of the school day on Friday 14th February and will return to school on Monday 24th February.

Parents Evening Reminder

Just a reminder that the booking system for Parents Evenings is now open. As ever, we aim for 100% attendance as it gives parents and carers the opportunity to receive updates from teachers on the progress the children are making throughout the academic year.
