9th May 2025

Friday 9th  May 2025

Dear parent/carer,

Another week at North Town has flown by. The children looked fabulous in their red, white and blue yesterday. A huge thank you to our history lead, Mr Hooper, and the teaching staff for the activities they planned to mark VE Day. Mr Hooper led Key Stage Assemblies and spoke about his grandfather’s experience of being a soldier during WWII. You could have heard a pin drop as the children were absorbed.

Have a smashing weekend everyone.

Best wishes,

Mr Braund

Year Six SATS

Next week our Year Six children will be completing the National Year Six SATs exams. All we ask at North Town throughout their time at the school is that the children try the very best they can in all aspects of the school day. The year six children have worked incredibly hard these past months and throughout their time at the school. We all wish them every success for next week and for them all to approach the tests with confidence and self-belief. Good luck year six, we are very proud of you all and we know you will be amazing!

Sports Events

Last Monday we had Y3/4 cross country at Kings College Prep, which is always great to see so many children take part in physical activity. This event was also a qualifier to represent the Taunton area at a county wide event in Yeovil. Seth from Y4 finished 13th which meant he had qualified, and did even better on Wednesday at the Somerset Inter School Races in Yeovil, finishing in 9th place and helping the Taunton area team come in first place on the day. Well done Seth!

Art work on display at Taunton Library

These past weeks the Huish Primary Schools have worked on a joint art project where the children have been completing an art project with the theme ‘What Somerset means to me.’ A selection of work from North Town, Lyngford Park, Nerrols, North Curry and West Buckland are now on display at Taunton Library until Friday 16th May. The art department at Richard Huish College will be judging them and choosing an overall winner for each year group.

School Choir

The children will be visiting Richard Huish College on the afternoon of Monday 19th May to use their recording studio as part of a joint music project between our Huish primary schools. We are absolutely delighted that the children have such an exciting opportunity. Mrs Purchase will be sending out additional information to the choir children next week.

Change of contact details

Please can we ask all parents and carers to inform the school immediately if ever there is a change of phone number or address so that we can update our school system.

Reminder of INSET Days

Our final two INSET days of the year are on:

Monday 2nd June and Wednesday 23rd July

The INSET day on Monday 2nd June will align with Huish primaries on focussing on staff well-being. This will allow us to focus on the importance of mental, emotional, and physical health in maintaining a positive and productive work environment. This dedicated day will allow staff to engage in activities that support their overall wellbeing.

Disco

A huge thank you to the PTA, staff and volunteers for ensuring that the DISCOs were a huge success last week. The children had the best time and danced lots! £760.48 was raised!

Summer Fayre

Just a reminder that our annual summer fayre is straight after school on Friday 20th June.
